Totaling 150,000 sq. ft., the Integrated Education and Research Building (IERB) at Mayo Clinic's Phoenix Campus represents the future of medical research and training. The facility consists of a north and south block linked together with a connecting bridge, and its design allows for collaboration and flexibility, featuring spaces that can be shared by both the research and education groups. Between the two blocks is a large shaded outdoor courtyard and terrace, which will function as interaction and event spaces. The new building features medical school classrooms, cadaver instructional lab and simulation rooms, wet and dry research labs, and administrative offices.

Design partners CO Architects and DFDG Architecture were searching for a stair solution that would meet the 100-year lifespan of the building, while also maintaining the sleek, aesthetically pleasing, design concept that the owner desired. GC Solutions, LLC (dba RediStair®) helped integrate the precast RediStair® system into the building design and achieve the aesthetic the owner desired. The project team was able to enhance on-site safety and save valuable time by eliminating the need for rental, construction, and deconstruction of temporary stair towers, by utilizing the RediStair® system as a temporary means of access as the building climbed. The RediStair® system was able to provide value to the owner throughout construction and will continue to provide value through the lifespan of the building.

Testimonial:

“DPR received excellent support from RediStair®; everything from design, engineering, quality control, and follow-up at the end of the project! Using RediStair® was an overall time and cost saver for our project (Mayo IERB). Safety was enhanced by eliminating multiple steps of work in an elevated location, and with the ease and quickness of installation, RediStair® allowed for quick access to upper (live) decks, which eliminated the need for temporary stair towers. Overall, we are very satisfied with the great service and product that was provided to our team.”
